Quatrefolic® & The Folate Problem*
Why we don't use folic acid
Most supplements use folic acid — a synthetic form your body must convert before it can use it. The problem: Based on published MTHFR polymorphism prevalence data, roughly 40–60% of people carry a variant of the MTHFR gene that significantly impairs this conversion. These individuals may absorb far less folate than the label suggests, regardless of the stated dose.
We use Quatrefolic®, the patented (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate — the active form that bypasses the MTHFR conversion step entirely. Your cells can use it directly, regardless of your genetics. It's a more expensive ingredient, and that's precisely why many supplement companies don't use it.
